Project Description
Nature-centred environments designed to reconnect people with the spaces they live and work in.
Rooted in the principles of biophilia - the idea that humans have an innate connection to the natural world - this work explores how interior environments can support greater wellbeing through the integration of natural elements.
As urbanisation continues to distance people from nature and more time is spent indoors, biophilic design offers a more human-centred approach to the built environment. By incorporating direct and indirect experiences of nature, these spaces are designed to feel calmer, healthier, and more restorative.
Projects range from subtle greenery integration to fully immersive nature-led environments across workplace, retail, hospitality, and residential settings. Through preserved and live planting installations, living walls, and preserved moss applications, each intervention is designed to enhance both spatial experience and wellbeing.
Beyond their visual impact, these elements also provide functional benefits. Preserved moss applications, for example, contribute to acoustic comfort through natural sound dampening, while layered greenery helps soften and humanise interior environments.
This approach was also explored through an immersive exhibition installation designed for the Interior Design Show in Toronto and Vancouver. Created for a biophilic design company specialising in preserved and live plant products, the booth invited visitors on a journey through a series of nature-inspired environments.
The space was divided into lounge, retail, and workspace zones, demonstrating how biophilic elements can transform different spatial experiences and applications. A layered, jungle-inspired atmosphere encouraged visitors to move through the installation, interact with the products, and experience a more immersive connection to nature within the built environment.
Together, these projects explore how biophilic design can move beyond decoration to create environments that support wellbeing, sensory experience, and a stronger connection between people, place, and nature.
