Project Description
A pilot branch exploring new ways of operating and how banking can feel more human, local, and connected to place.
This concept branch was developed as a pilot for a new operating model that reimagined how a retail bank could function and feel. The design draws directly from Bedfordview's local history and community, creating a meaningful connection between the brand and its customers.
Rather than adding branding as a visual layer sitting on top of the design, the project brings it to life through materials and storytelling, embedding it into the space itself.
South African heritage is reflected through layered material choices, from textiles and patterns that speak to the region’s diverse culture, to steel detailing referencing the area’s mining and railway legacy the bank supported during the gold rush era.
The result is a space that feels warm, familiar, and rooted in place, balancing heritage with modern function. It offers an environment that feels comfortable and welcoming, while supporting enhanced service delivery and operational efficiency.
